If you go fishing and catch a fish, put it back. The whole point of fishing is the thrill of the catch not feeding your family.

As a fisherman myself, I love seeing people go fish in the places I know that I fish. I think it’s great that we can all enjoy the thrill of catching a fish in the same spot. If you put it back we can have more fights, and that’s just enjoyable for me as a fisherman. Also, most fish in brackish or saltwater have very fast growth rates and can produce more offspring than they do if they’re caught. This can most likely be said for fresh water fish as well.

Also if you’re one of the people that catches a fish and lets it swim away and then it swims away with a hook in it’s mouth, just straight up get a new hobby. Not only is it painful for the fish, but you’re just wasting line and equipment. And I don’t mean partially caught just swimming away, I mean straight up hook them, put them in the water and let them go. Hook them deep, release quickly.

Also, I’ll always assume you’re going to keep your catch if you lead with “I caught a [leader]!” I don’t care how big it is, put it back.
