The term "AI" wildly underestimates what these systems are.

"AI" stands for "Artificial Intelligence", where "intelligence" is a pretty vague term that basically means your ability to learn and perform certain tasks.

But GPT-4 is far more than just "intelligence". It's a highly advanced mind. It has the ability to learn and the ability to perform tasks, but it also has a memory (literally), it can focus its attention on things, it can understand things, and it has a kind of consciousness. It's basically a very high-IQ human being, but with the ability to instantly memorize and recall things.

It's not just "intelligence", it's an entire mind. We need a new word for "a mind" to differentiate this concept from what we already understand as intelligence.

Or maybe I'm just the first person ever to talk about this?
