I always eat dessert before dinner at a restaurant

When at a restaurant, waiting staff always find it strange when my partner and I order the dessert course before any food. “Oh, I know, I’ll have the chocolate mousse after, but do bring it out now!”
They always look at each other, slightly bemused.
Why? Its just dessert.

So here is my unpopular opinion: I think that everyone should just go and get their dessert before their food. It must be a huge logistical issue for the waiting staff... let them know that it’s totally fine to just have dessert first. Arrange your courses in whatever order you fancy, I assure you that your meal will still make it out in the correct order.

And if, god forbid, you end up with multiple courses at once... well, its not that hard and there’s enough of you. Share! Or is that rude in the USA?
