“Awkward silence is the worst”

In groups, when there is an awkward silence, the peer next to me will literally tap their foot at me as if to say “spend this moment with us”. As if an awkward silence is the worst thing that can happen in a conversation. It’s so fucking cringe.<br><br>In these moments, I think, “what a special thing we are right now, we’ve created an awkward silence”. And I will entertain the awkward silence by saying something like “It’s a shame that we have to break this silence, this is such a special moment for us to have created this awkward silence, let’s just entertain it for a bit longer”. <br><br>The peer next to me will always look at me like “shut the fuck up”. I can tell they don’t share the same values as me. They wouldn’t know a special moment if it fucking came up to them and personally introduced itself.
