People who say "humans weren't meant to work" have no basic understanding of how a society functions.

I want to preface this with: I completely agree that mental health and burnout is a huge issue today and people are more tired and drained than ever before. However, this is not because of work... Humans were **designed** to do physical and mental work. If you don't like your job that does not mean that job should be destroyed. Rather, you should find another job that you enjoy more. If you didn't have the privileges to go to college and choose your career, then again... find another job you might enjoy more. Every job is important and the world would collapse if everyone quit their job.

Also another note: Some people will say things like "yeah but I'm a full time student" or "I'm a parent and I do all the work at home". While your situations are different, the logic in these statements are the same. You understand how important work is to a functional society.

My big issue with these opinions is that they have no basic understanding of how a society functions. If everyone refused to do physical and mental work... What would you do instead? When someone breaks into your home to steal your belongings, who are you going to call? Your neighbor? But he has to work... What if he doesn't have food to put on the table because his job pays his bills... Who are you going to call? Your fellow coworker? But she has to work... How would you provide for your basic needs if everyone refused to work?

Also another note: I'm not talking about physical disability or mental conditions that make it difficult to work. (Such as depression, schizophrenia, Parkinson's, multiple sclerosis, etc)

**Edit** : Since this got a lot of upvotes and attention, I feel it's important to clarify that my opinion is not "workers deserve unpaid labor from citizens". Instead, the main point is that a majority of people who say "humans weren't meant to work" have no basic understanding of how a society functions. If everyone refused to work, society would not function. And people certainly don't deserve to be unpaid labor...
