Is this sub fundamentally flawed?

I’ve been frequenting this sub for the last two years, and in that time I’ve noticed something truly frustrating. Most of the users on this page are not philosophers, and more often than not you’ll find yourself responding to the exact same comments from people who have no idea what they’re talking about. It’s not uncommon to find someone asking a question like, “What is an example of a philosopher who champions ‘x’ ideology?” and no matter how clear and to the point the question is, you’ll have hundreds of responses from people who don’t know the first thing about philosophy.

The front page seems to be dominated by threads like, “How do you make yourself take a shit in the morning?” or “What is your favorite philosopher?” This sub is overrun with questions that have no singular correct answer, instead it devolves into a comment war of what the most “correct” answer is, or into a gigantic echo chamber.

Furthermore, I believe a large majority of people on this sub are overestimating their own intelligence to a severe degree. I’ve seen tons of threads with people saying things like, “Philosophers today are pussies for responding to the pressing social issues of today such as gender issues, and race issues.” When the first thing a “modern philosopher” should do is address the problems of today. All of you armchair philosophers seem to be forgetting that philosophy isn’t some pedestal that worldview is built upon, it is a tool that should be used to shape and inform opinions to create a better future for all.

EDIT: Thank you all for the comments, thanks for the gold as well. To those of you who sent death threats in my DMs and targeted me for speaking out about an issue I see with the sub, I think it speaks to the validity of my point, and I hope you step back and reflect on your actions and the place you’re putting this sub in, and the damage it’s causing.
