Elon Musk’s social media company X has claimed it has “detected” an AI-powered propaganda campaign targeting billionaire CEO.<br><br>In a post on its platform on Wednesday, X Corp said that it had it has discovered the campaign using its newly acquired AI tool. <br><br>Such campaigns, known as \textit{astroturf}, are more commonly known as fake groups that are designed to mislead people into believing they are organic and are made up of people with common interests.<br><br>It is not known who was behind the campaign but the company’s post said the campaign involved multiple fake accounts.<br><br>Over the last few months, Musk has been the subject of an investigation by the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) over whether \textbf{X Corp broke a previous agreement to protect user data, }with media reports saying he was \textbf{facing millions in fines.}<br><br>The billionaire CEO has a long and fractious relationship with the \textbf{FTC, and has clashed with the agency over its investigation into Twitter. }<br><br>On Wednesday, X Corp claimed that the campaign used a "coordinated network" that was "using AI-generated content" in an effort to "mislead" people.<br><br>Ironically, the campaign involved a group called StopAIabuse whose Twitter bio describes it as “\textbf{activists working to protect people from abuse and harassment: AI propaganda. }<br><br>X Corp said it had suspended almost 5000 accounts related to the campaign.<br><br>The company added that it had removed 3000 accounts in recent days where usernames, profile pictures or other identifying features were being used in suspicious ways.
