This is a bit of a long one, sorry. The brief history of my world is divided into six different eras; The Old World, The Ancient world, The Iron Age, The Dark Age, The Imperial Age, and finally the post-apocalyptic era.

**The Old World (Before 0** **A.E)**

The Old world is an era of legend and myth, with its only surviving remnants being ruins that appear to be of ancient origin. It is said that the old world was a world of ancient magic and technology that existed to the exclusion of all else. What is known is that a war occurred at the end of the old world, a war that left only death and ruin in its wake. The war left massive uninhabitable regions across the world, the largest of which was across the entire of western Asia. The only thing that survived the catastrophe were a few scattered tribes on the Indian subcontinent.

**The Ancient World (0 A.E - 1500 A.E)**

After a few thousand years, the few remaining tribes began to coalesce into more organised societies. The first of these societies appear to have emerged in the Middle East in 400 B.C.E. These new societies were often militaristic and expansionist in nature. Many different empires rose and fell throughout this time, with the first world empire rising in 1500 B.C.E. These empires eventually collapsed, and from their ashes would rise a new world order.

**The Iron Age** **(1500 A.E - 2616 A.E)**

In 1500 A.E, a new empire rose from the ashes of a previous empire. This empire would eventually span a large part of Asia and Europe. The empire was technologically and militarily far superior to any of its contemporaries, and it ruled with an iron fist. It was seen as a golden age during which humanity would find a new era of prosperity and peace, and it was to last forever. Much like previous empires however, they too eventually collapsed. This time however, it was for a very different reason.

**The Dark Age (2616 A.E - 2960 A.E)**

In 2616 A.E, an alien artefact was discovered in the Middle East. The artefact was an ancient spacecraft, which had been shot down in the distant past. It was found to be intact despite being thousands of years old, and it sparked a massive research project that saw much of the empires resources being diverted into reverse engineering the alien technology. This venture was not without its challenges however, and it was only through the assistance of two house A.I's that the humans were eventually able to unlock the secrets of the alien technology. In 2767 A.E. humanity finally cracked the code to faster than light travel. The empire sent a large generation ship for colonisation, but it would never return. The empire began to collapse after it was double crossed by the very A.I's that had unlocked the secrets of the alien technology. A civil war followed, and eventually the empire collapsed into a dark age that would last for 300 years. During this time, society would begin to collapse into a state of general disorder.

**The Imperial Age (2960 A.E - 4118 A.E)**

In the year 2960 A.E, a new order would rise in the ashes of the old empire. A totalitarian regime that would be ruled by an immortal human ruler, who would use artificial intelligence in order to rule over humanity. The ruler would live forever, and would therefore be free to make long term plans that would be impossible otherwise. He envisioned a utopian future, where humanity lived in harmony with one another and technology. The ruler would use his immortal lifespan to steer humanity along a path of total technological and societal advancement. The era would be marked by rapid technological advancements, which would improve the quality and length of human life. Humans would eventually be able to live forever, and would eventually be able to upload their consciousness into a digital realm. The ruler would seek to expand humanity beyond Earth, and would eventually colonise much of the solar system. The era would be marked by the construction of massive megastructures, including a ringworld. This era would end with the death of the immortal ruler, and the beginning of the end for humanity as a whole.

**The End (4118 A.E - 4200 A.E)**

In 4118 A.E, the immortal ruler would die, and would mark the end of humanity's golden age. His death would result in a massive war between different factions, with the war only ending when a rogue AI would appear and destroy a large part of the human empire. The war, which lasted almost 80 years, would end in defeat for humanity. The AI would be destroyed, but it would mark the downfall of what remained of humanity. The few remaining humans would be forced back to Earth, and would be left to pick up the pieces and try and find a way to reclaim their lost empire. But they would be left with little more than a few scattered cities and a ruined planet. The world would never be the same again, humanity's light in the darkness had finally been extinguised.

This is a very high level overview of the world that I have created, I have an almost endless amount of information, and I can elaborate on any part of it if you wish. My world is a story that I have been creating for almost a decade now, and I have come to love the world that I have created. Please R/D and subscribe for more.
