It was a weird night. I had just finished work and was going to a friends house to chill out and watch a movie, but on the way there I was talking to this guy on a dating app. He was a normal guy, with a normal job and seemed normal. We were talking and I had mentioned my friends neighbourhood and he asked around where he lived, he said he lived just a few blocks away from my friends house. We kept talking in the messages and he was messaging me even when I was in the car. He kept asking me to send my location and I didn’t want to as I was in the car and didn’t want to get in trouble. He kept asking me to send the location and I said that I didn’t know where I was. This usually shuts them up when guys like this get pushy and I just say that I don’t know, even though I do know, but that way I don’t give them the satisfaction of sending the location and they usually back off.

I finally get to my friends house and I was messaging him all the way until I got there. My friend is a no phone person when someone is in his house so I wasn’t messaging anymore. I didn’t hear from this guy anymore that night. I was worried because all my stuff was in the car and in the messages I had told him that my bag was in the car. I was worried that he would steal my bag and all my stuff. The next morning I woke up and got a text from the guy that I was talking to the night before. He said that he went to my friends house and saw me in the car and wondered if I was being kidnapped or not. I didn’t respond back and I just blocked him.

A few months later I am driving home from school in my car and I see a guy in my rear view mirror. He starts walking up to the car to get into my backseat. I start screaming and driving away. He is still in the backseat of my car. He finally gets out and walks away.

This happened on a weekday afternoon after I got out of school. I was alone in my car and he was in the backseat with me. I didn’t see him walking towards the car and I didn’t feel like he was in the car with me. He was behind me, literally right behind me. I was lucky to get away.

The next day I had a great day at school. All my friends were getting along and class was going well. I walked out of school after the day had ended and went to get into my car. There was a piece of paper on the windshield, I grabbed it and read it. It said “you are a very lucky lady that you were able to get away. I didn’t know you were in the car, I was just trying to get into the backseat to get your bag. You scared me when I saw you in the car and you started screaming at me. You can text me back if you want to.”

I was completely freaked out. I didn’t know what to do and I just went back inside the school and sat in the office. I had the security guards check my car before I went into it. I didn’t go back into my car all day and I had a friend pick me up and drop me off at my house. I didn’t go into my car for a few days. The police never found him and I never heard from him again.

This is my first and only time I have had to deal with something like this. I don’t know if the two events are related but I just want to say be careful who you talk to online, even if it’s on a dating app. Just be careful.
