Testosterone is a hell of a drug

This was a reply to a post that got locked, but I felt like this was important enough to share anyway. Plus we don't have a large Male Bullshit thread going on today.

"I have a Male friend who is gently feminist and has a crush on me. He told me about when he was a teenager his dad told him that testosterone is why he can't control his urges, and that he just has to deal with it. This guy's dad was a Christian and a terrible dad.

That being said, hormone shifts in Male teenagers cause a lot of their angst and possibly even depression. But in light of this I have a question. If their brain chemistry causes them to be more violent, and they can't control it, would testosterone be considered a drug? I don't know enough about brain cycles to know if it counts as a drug. Either way it doesn't excuse their Male behavior, but I think we should talk about that.

I also have a hypothesis that a lot of boys don't know how to control their emotions. I think it's because they are told to "man up" and bottle their emotions rather than have a healthy way to handle them. It's just a hypothesis though. I don't have real evidence.

Testosterone has effects on the Male brain, and may even be considered a drug. It's not that they are monsters, it's that many of them don't know how to handle their own brain chemistry."
