MAFIAA is right, it makes no sense and it’s impossible to enforce.

* Everyone around me had their phone out and nothing happened. Travel to the US and they’ll humiliate you.

* None of the airport staff care, and just say “you’re not allowed to take your phone out” because it’s protocol, but they don’t actually care.

* I had to open my bag because it had a metal thing in it, and I told the staff I had a laptop in it and they just said “ok, no problem”. And the x Ray machines also saw it but nothing happened.

* When my bag went through the x Ray machine, it started beeping like crazy, but not a single thing happened.

* I walked through the metal detector and it beeped like crazy but the staff didn’t even look at me.

* There’s just no consistency between airports. I went through 5 airports and the rules were different at each one. Some allowed phones and laptops, some didn’t. Some stopped you if your metal detector beeped, some didn’t.

* The only thing they do care about is making sure your water bottle is 100ml or less. I travelled with a full 1L bottle and no one cared, but the airport staff were very strict about emptying large bottles of water.

The EU airport security system is broken and inconsistent, and no one actually cares about the rules. And just to reiterate, when I travelled to the US the security was much stricter and they actually cared about the rules.
