hello,

i have a question for all you seasoned travellers. basically, i'm going on holiday for the first time in two years, in january. i'm flying from brussels to my destination and back. getting to and from the airport will take an additional 7 hours (one way). the flights are 6 hours each way.

i'm starting to wonder if all in all it's worth it to fly. i'm doing 18 hours of travel for 14 days of being away. that's quite a percentage of the holiday, whereas my train holiday in switzerland didn't require any of the stress of airport security, customs and long journeys to the airport. i wasn't jet lagged and the train wasn't harmful for the environment. so all in all it was a great experience.

was it a once of, or am i romanticising train holidays? should i prepare for flying to be a drag in january? should i never fly again or do i make it a habit to fly because the holiday is worth it? do you have any suggestions as to how i can avoid suffering from jet lag?

tia for any and all your replies!
