I’m tired of seeing statements like “X is bad because of Y”. Why is X bad because of Y? “It increases W and that’s bad because of Z”. Why is that? Because of J. At this point, it’s just a game of “because I said so” by whoever you disagree with.

It’s becoming harder and harder to form a genuinely “unpopular” opinion because everything seems to be filtered through a modern left or right lens. To the right, “climate change is a load of bollocks and therefore we should burn more fossil fuels so that the economy can keep chugging along.” To the left, “climate change is well established and something needs to be done about it, but why should I stop eating chicken because it contributes to emissions? You have zero authority over my lifestyle.”

There is no Win-Win here either. If right wingers try to implement policies that benefit them, left wingers will scorn them. If left wingers implement policies that benefit them, right wingers will scorn them.

Can we just form *genuinely* different, unrelated opinions for once? Or is that just the opinion of a classic centrist (which is yet another unpopular opinion)?
