I had my evaluation today and was handed the new teacher contract. With my 5 years experience I will be making less than I did 5 years ago without experience. This is including a 2.5% raise. Getting the details of the contract I have to work 10 more hours a week. Also, they determined that we have to give up planning time to "supervise" students while not making any more money. My subject is foreign languages. I am the only one in my school that has over 20 students in a class, no matter what the subject is. My subject is the only one where students have to buy the textbooks. I am the only subject that is expected to be available at the moment without parents being informed. My subject is the only one where I have to attend parent teacher conferences for. I am not allowed to attend the meetings that set the curriculum, even though I am the only teacher in my subject. They changed the curriculum to make it more like teaching English without any support of how to do it right. Now they just informed me that I will have to cover for teachers when they are out more often because the new school policy doesn't allow for subs. I just wish they would treat me as a professional.

I am seriously thinking about quitting.
