A British Soldier saved me from a potential abduction.

Back in 2007, I (25F, Australian) was traveling Europe and living in Berlin. I decided to make a trip to Paris with a friend to watch the Rugby World Cup. <br><br>We were having a great time, drinking beers and cheering on Australia. We left the bar in the early hours of the morning and I lost my friend in the crowd. <br><br>I couldn’t find her anywhere so I sat down on a bench and waited for her to call or find me. At this point I had no idea how long she had been gone for. <br><br>There were two men approaching me, they seemed to be arguing over money. One was dressed in a suit, the other a bartender. The one in the suit approached me and asked if I spoke English. I told him I was Australian. He explained that he owed the bartender money and needed it badly. <br><br>I was unstable from the beers and the situation, and the sun was starting to rise. I was feeling a little panicked and sick. The man told me if I gave him the money, he would buy me a coffee and help me find my friend. <br><br>I trusted him and gave him the money. He bought me a coffee and we walked down the street. We were approaching a black van and I suddenly felt like something wasn’t right. <br><br>At this point, I had no idea where I was or where I was going. The man in the suit grabbed my arm and started pulling me towards the van. <br><br>A voice yelled “let her go now” and it startled me to the point where I broke down and lost control of my body. The man in the suit took off in a full sprint and jumped in the van. <br><br>The bartender shouted at the van as it drove away, while I collapsed onto the ground. A British soldier picked me up off the ground, dusted me off and took me to a nearby pub. <br><br>He told me not to think about what could’ve happened and that I was safe now. He called my friend who tracked my location using an app and she met up with us at the pub. <br><br>I never found out the name of the soldier, but I will never forget his face.
