I think my wife has gone crazy

Right at the start of the pandemic, our office closed and my boss asked everyone to work from home. I live in a one-bedroom apartment, so at first it was hard to find space. After a few days, it got too boring staying inside all the time, so me and my wife decided to go camping. We got into our car, drove up the mountain, and set up a small tent in the middle of nowhere. It was nice. There were no other people around.

After a week, we decided that the situation wasn’t getting better and we might as well stay there and not pay our rent for the apartment. So we left to buy all the things we might possibly need to not have to come back to town for a while. We went back to the mountain, and forgot about the virus for a few days. We didn’t even turn on the tv. It was a lot of fun. We also got some good news. I’m not sure how you feel about this, but my company decided to keep paying me my full salary and not fire any of its employees. It was a good time.

It lasted until mid-May. Suddenly, one day we heard on the tv that all the lockdown measures were lifted, and everything was going back to normal. The news really caught me by surprise. I was not expecting it to happen so suddenly. I was also a bit worried because I’m medical staff, though not currently working as one. I was pretty sure I was going to be called back in a short time. But I was wrong. Everything went on pretty much as before. We planned on staying on the mountain anyway, so it was not a big deal.

But then we got a little worried about our tent. It was already warm enough to begin with, but in June it really started getting out of hand. It was hot, and at some point it felt like we were cooking in there. So we decided to rent a small cabin. The cabin was owned by a really nice old man, who lived in the village at the foot of the mountain. We saw him during the first week of June and he said that if we paid him enough, he would go to a nearby town for a few days to avoid running into us. We agreed to this, so we gave him the keys to our car and all our money and he left.

The cabin had two bedrooms, a living room and a kitchen. It had a pretty big yard and a barn. We spent some time fixing up the house and the yard as well. We took down a lot of old branches and brought down a big tree. It was a lot of work, but in the end we really felt like we had accomplished something. After being stuck in a small tent for months, we finally had our home.

The heat was still a problem, but the situation was a lot better. We had a big electric fan, which we kept running all day. It really helped keep us cool in the house. But at night, it was a different story. I tried to sleep with the fan turned on, but it was pretty loud. It also shook and vibrated a lot, which scared me. I was not really sure it was safe running it for so long. So we ran it only during the day, and at night we kept all the windows opened to let in the cool mountain air. That way we could sleep much better.

I think it was during the third week of June that it started. One night, at around 1 am, I woke up for no reason. I don’t know why, but it was a feeling that I’ve had in my stomach for most of my life. I call it the fear. I got it when I was a kid. I used to be afraid that there was a monster hiding under my bed, or in the closet. It was really hard for me to go to sleep because of this. My dad used to come into my room and check everywhere, but no matter how many times he did this, the fear never went away. After a few years, I learned how to live with it.

It took me a while to fall back asleep, but I managed to. Then at around 4 am I woke up again, for pretty much the same reason. It’s really strange. I didn’t hear anything, but something just woke me up. I’m sure of it. I could go on to first explain how me and my wife met, but it’s not important. We both ended up waking up at 4 am, and both felt the same. It seemed like we were waiting for something to happen, but nothing did. I was not too tired the next day, but my wife had a headache. It didn’t take me long to figure out that I had gotten up for no reason. But then my wife told me she had gotten up to the bathroom, and she was scared because she saw our shadow on the wall. But I don’t know how it was possible for her to see it, because our window had been closed.

We didn’t give it much thought. We thought maybe it was a rat running on the roof, or maybe a branch that had broken off in the wind. The heat was causing a lot of storms, so it wouldn’t be weird to hear the sound of branches cracking. But then it happened again last night.

I woke up in the middle of the night again. I didn’t hear anything, I just felt it. And I knew there was someone in the room. I saw it first out of the corner of my eye, but when I turned to look, there was no one there. I didn’t want to jump to conclusions, so I decided to wait it out first. I waited and waited, but nothing happened. I was not sleepy at all, so after half an hour I decided to go to the kitchen. I got out of bed, but at that moment my wife woke up. I was not too surprised, because she has a pretty good sense of when someone is in the room. It’s not a weird thing, the two of us often talk to each other without looking at each other. By the time she woke up, I was already walking through the door, and I’m sure she saw me. But when she asked me where I was going, I pretended I was going to the bathroom.

So this was the first mistake we made. I think this was the turning point. I’m not too sure what’s wrong with my wife now, and I’m not sure how much I should believe her, but this is pretty much how it all went.

I left the bedroom and closed the door behind me. I didn’t lock it because I didn’t want to scare my wife, but I didn’t want to leave it open either. I turned around and walked to the kitchen. It was dark because none of the lights were turned on, but I could see the shape of the furniture. It was no different than any other night. The only thing different was that it was really hot, and when I looked through the kitchen window, I first felt a cold breeze blow over me. It was weird. Although I could see the fan in the corner of the room, it was not running. I walked up to it to plug it in and turn it on, but then I saw the glass under my feet. The fan had fallen over and broken. It was lying on the ground, broken into pieces. The glass had shattered into thousands of little pieces. Some of them were sticking into my bare feet. I cried out in pain and hopped on one foot while I tried to pull out the glass from the other. It was so painful, but I knew I couldn’t leave it in there. I had to get it out.

But I couldn’t. The glass was so small, and every time I tried to pull it out, it broke in half and a smaller piece of it got stuck even deeper. I tried and tried, I think I must have spent hours doing this, but I couldn’t get any of it out. I started crying at some point, and I’m not too proud to admit that. The pain was too much to handle. But then I heard a voice. It was soft, and it came from somewhere in front of me. It was saying something, but I couldn’t understand it. It was like listening to someone from another room. The voice was really quiet, and the words were muffled. I tried hard to understand what it was saying. The voice was so soft and monotone, it didn’t sound like a real person. I had to listen really closely to understand it. I forgot about the glass and the pain in my foot. I was so focused on understanding what the voice was saying.

But then it stopped. I stood there in silence, listening to nothing. I think at that moment I was really scared. I didn’t know what was happening, but something was telling me to get out. I didn’t really think about it. I turned around, and I ran. I ran through the hallway, into the bedroom, and I shut the door behind me. I locked it, and I jumped onto the bed. I didn’t even stop for a second. I just kept going until I was under the covers.

I don’t know how long it took me to fall asleep. At some point I lost consciousness. I’m not really sure when or how or why I fell asleep, but I did. It must have been pretty early in the morning. I was first woken up by the sound of the tv being turned on. It was pretty loud, so I knew right away that my wife had turned it on. She was lying on her side of the bed, but when she heard me moving, she turned to me and smiled. But then she froze and frowned. I didn’t understand her reaction, but she looked at me angrily.

She asked me if I had turned on the tv. I said no, I
