Your country has been invaded by another country. How do you (not an organisation) resist?

A relatively short question.

So, a totally hypothetical example. I live in New Zealand, and our military is basically just normal people who either volunteer or are called up at random. Our military doesn't have professional full-time soldiers like some countries.

If New Zealand was invaded by Japan, which let's just say has a powerful military, then they would easily win. Our military doesn't stand a chance, and also our government would probably surrender as it would be easier to work with the Japanese than to fight them.

But there are many reasons why I'd want to resist. I don't want to lose my country to another nation. My family has lived in New Zealand for generations. It's our home. I have no desire to leave.

I'd want to fight back, but I'm not in the military. I have no training or experience. I'm just normal person.

So how would I, and others like me, resist? The question is about what we would actually do. What action would we take?

What forms of resistance would I use?

Could I adapt my skills for the purpose of resisting?
