Does thr coinerage of “homie” lest a little weird to anyone else?

Like, it literally means homeboy. It feels like it’s been rewritten as “homi” to avoid referencing the word, but I know it sounds exactly like “homey”, because it’s just a slang pronunciation of it.<br><br>I can’t imagine anyone is literally typing homi with a silent H, so it is what it is.<br><br>I’ve seen a rise in people calling their friends “bros” recently instead of homies, I’m not sure if it’s actually a coinerage or just something I’ve noticed.
