How do things like TikTok or snapchat stay alive and well?

To my understanding, they don’t sell personal data, they don’t get any financial assistance from the government, they don’t have ads, and they don’t charge their users to use. So how do they stay alive?<br><br>Edit: Thanks for all of the helpful replies. I did not expect this to blow up.
