So IAccepted a job on Friday with a new company in a senior position. I gave my 2 weeks notice with my current company and my last day will be the 18th. On Monday I got an anonymous email asking me to resign immediately. It was well written and thought out, with personal details that only someone in the company would know. Actually very well written with a lot of detail.

My question: Who could have written this? And is this person in a position of leadership within the company, and if so who do I talk to about this?

Email content following:

Fair Warning: Please resign

Dear [Name],

Over the last few days past and present colleagues have learned of your decision to resign but more importantly that you have taken a job with [Company]. While we congratulate you on this new chapter, you must now resign immediately.

While your resume states [X#] of HR experience, your last 9 months in our department have been a disaster. You have left an indelible mark on department colleagues but unfortunately it is one of being selfish, dismissive and inconsiderate at best.

Your resume does not indicate that you are a licensed attorney so it is with some surprise that you claim to have a deep understanding of the law. Both federal and state. However, it is also surprising that you claim to be an HR professional and claim to know the law but yet have broken several federal HR laws while in your position here. It is also surprising that you would put your past department and current one at risk of lawsuits. This is not conjecture, this is fact. During your last 9 months, at least 3 people have filed complaints with the EEOC, over 12 people have left, and several more have complained. Many have given you very specific examples and yet you have done nothing. You have also done everything to cover yourself. Your lack of knowledge and complete lack of emotional intelligence has led you to commit these mistakes.

We could go on with examples but we will hold back. Suffice to say that you are no longer needed or wanted. It is in the best interest of past and current employees that you resign now, effective immediately. You have failed at your position and no longer have a place here. You have failed to protect your former department and have put people in harm’s way with your lack of knowledge and lack of care. The fact that you could care so little, for very serious issues, is not only disheartening but also disgusting. It is obvious by your actions that you could not care less. We also know by your own account that you have no friends in the department and that you are an outcast. The fact that you would sell yourself out for a buck is disgusting and the worst part of your departure.

While this note is not something that anyone enjoys writing, it is a form of justice for so many that you have done harm to. Thankfully you are now out of reach to do any more harm. You are no longer in a position to make decisions that affect people’s livelihoods.

While this note is addressed to you, it should also serve as a warning to [Boss], that this hire was a mistake. Not only a mistake but a terrible hire. Allowing you to stay, in a position of power, only shows that he also does not care. He too is fully aware of these accusations and has done nothing. Some would argue that he still keeps you on staff because he agrees with your methods of doing business. After all, he did hire you and supported your actions.

To [Boss], we are also begging you to please let [Name] go. This is a blessing in disguise. Let them go and do not waste one second trying to convince them to stay. We really hope that [Name] does not take your offer to stay because we can’t imagine the harm that he will do in the next 2 weeks.

We are glad that you are leaving [Name], we are glad for the past and current employees, we are glad for everyone. Please resign now, effective immediately.

We wish you bad luck in your future endeavors.

past and present colleagues

[Name]

EDIT: For those that are asking how this person would know the other company name, it is very simple, my new company is publicly traded and the announcement is made public. I also sent my formal resignation letter to my boss on Friday afternoon. So anyone could have seen it and looked up where I am going on the company's website. It really isn't rocket science.
