I am a nurse at a hospital (not a doctor but I am in a department that deals with patients) I have been working there for 3 years now and I have not had one problem with missing work due to having kids. My kids are 9 and 6 f and m.

My husband works in IT.

We have a sitter for our kids.

When the whole COVID stuff started we moved the kids to their grandparents. The sitter was still an option but we did not feel safe in sending them and we work in essential jobs.

Now with the kids back with us, we got a call from the sitter that she is closing her daycare. She has lost 8 kids due to parents not feeling safe sending their kids to her and she can't stay open on 2 kids. We completely get it and told her if we ever go back to the office we would send them back.

Well word got around and now parents are talking about sending the kids back to school (this was the first I heard that it was even being considered). While I do think kids should be in school I just don't think it is safe to be sending them back now.

My husband said that since the sitter is closed we will just send the kids back to school. I said hell no! I am public healthcare I am front line and I will not send the kids back to school if it is opened. I told him we will figure it out. But if they do decide to open the schools we will home school until this pandemic blows over.

He thinks I am being dramatic and I am overreacting but I just don't want to take that risk.
