A few days ago, it poured on the way to work. My friend didn’t have an umbrella, but she really wanted to go for a walk, so she grabbed a $2 umbrella and off she went in the rain.

On her way back, she met a lady who was soaked to the bone, shivering, and crying. My friend asked her what happened, and the lady told her she got hit by a car and is injured, but she has to get to the hospital. The lady couldn’t walk, so my friend used her $2 umbrella to hold it above her and helped her walk to the nearest taxi.

The lady thanked her profusely and promised to pay her back. My friend refused, saying it was no big deal. Today, she met the lady again at the market, and the lady thanked her again and gave her $20 as a gift. My friend was so proud of herself for doing something good.

This whole incident reminded me that doing good doesn’t have to be expensive. A $2 umbrella can be a life-saver. It’s all about the mindset.
