CMV: A 20 year old who says, "I've been queer since I was 15" was not actually queer all of those years.

Recently I've noticed fairly young people claiming that they've experienced attraction to the same gender for the majority of their lives. I've been reading testimonials from people who make claims like, "I've been queer since I was 12." I think that a young person claiming such things would have no evidence of such claims and that, therefore, they're using that mental gymnastics to excuse their lack of actual self-awareness. I think they know that this is what they believe now, but to claim that you felt these things in the past as well when you have no evidence for it is just a false claim.

Just because you can look back and see a pattern in the past, doesn't mean that you were aware of that pattern when it happened in the first place.

It just comes off as a weak excuse for a lack of self awareness. We all have inherent flaws of being human, so why not just own up to yours?
