My theory about the anonymous suicide post

I'm just going to go ahead and say that although it was very fucked up, the anonymous suicide post was a manipulative trolling maneuver. The guy committed suicide to create a viral post that would reach all the social networks and demonstrate to the world how "cancerous" and how "dead" a place 4chan has become.

This is my theory, and it could just be that, a theory. I can just imagine your average channer (i.e. a lonely, isolated, ostracized, and mentally ill teenager) thinking that he could become, and actually becoming, an internet martyr. 4chan is clearly very sick, and I can just imagine someone justifying this stunt by saying that "it's just another manifestation of the abyss of the futility of society". I've seen plenty of these post on, and off the internet, but none of them have ever had this level of 4chan "comedy" so I can't help but speculate:

"It's for the lulz, it's just a joke bro, stop being so serious"

"You can't fall for this trap"

"I'm kinda mad I've seen this trap before"

"first if you hit, marries, and has kids you should kill yourself cause you're a failure"

"I'm not 4chan historian, but this isn't the first time a guy killed himself to make a viral post"

I've seen all of these comments in the replies, but the funniest thing is that if this were actually a stunt, it worked. None of the mainstream media outlets say that it was a pranked, or a troll. All they are saying is that a man committed suicide live on stream.

I've seen some people arguing that this is an example of what 4chan has become, and that it's ironic because the folks at 4chan just jump at the chance to mock and shame people who commit suicide IRL so that proves that 4chan has become "a platform for sympathizing with the mentally ill and supporting others during their darkest hours". I really don't have anything to say to this, just that this is a self-evident truth, it's very ironic. If this post is real and not a joke (which is 100% possible), than this is an example of how sick and depraved 4chan has become. Reddit has the "r/SuicideWatch", 4chan has "this is not a suicide threat".

Although the thought of a guy killing himself over the internet just to prove a point is grim, the fact that the post is real, and that it is still up, and that the media has spent zero time talking about it, is just as grim.
