CMV: Meditation is a treat for the privileged and under harms those with a history of trauma.

Hey all, I've been meditating for a few years now and I feel like even though it has improved my mental health, in my journey I keep seeing red flags that make me think that meditation in fact harms a certain particular subset of people - the ones with trauma. In my personal experience, although my anxiety and ability to focus have improved, it has also made me as a person more emotionally unstable. For example, I have never cried as much before as I do now and my memories from childhood that I have suppressed resurfaced and are haunting me now. While a simple Google search would yield results that meditation is a cure-all for trauma, I believe that that is just an echo chamber of anecdotes that never been studied properly and in the grand scheme of things, the studies do not account for the meditator's pre-trauma history. I believe that if there were a study done on people who have "meditated to madness" they would show a common thread of past trauma. Meditation, in essence, is to keep your mind focused on a certain object. That would inevitably lead to one's brain rewiring itself, which could lead to unintended side effects. You cannot change the hardware of your brain without expecting new software developed on the fly by your brain to behave well.

Edit(26/08/2023) : Hey guys, thanks for all the robust discussion, I think I've heard enough to change my view on this topic. In the end, everything in the world is double-edged so the view is likely to be false and that most influences are controllable through proper training.

Edit(28/08/2023) : I'm glad that some people in the comments have benefited from meditation. However, I found that there is not enough support from the experts in that they know that meditation can harm certain people and they don't address this issue properly when they come out with their "yoga treats all" message, which they should.

Edit(31/08/2023) : I think I have like 4 people CMV, thanks for the discussion everyone.
