What’s the deal with this sub?

This sub used to be great. It was once full of interesting, substantial discussions—now, it’s just a mess of “Here’s my boy’s hot take” and “Faux-rage for upvotes *article headline*” posts. One’s a problem because the child is capable of neither performing philosophy nor understanding that philosophy is about coming to understand an idea, not merely to advocate for it regardless of its flaws. The other is a problem because it’s not *doing* philosophy—it’s just a way to rage against the news in a polite way, and it genuinely has no place here. What’s going on? You used to be able to rely on this subreddit for interesting discussions. Now, it’s just all trash.<br><br>Edit: Thank you all for your insight. I believe that this is the problem that I should take on. It’s my hope that we can create better access to philosophical discussion for people of all ages and backgrounds.
