I’ve been teaching for 20 years and I find it really weird that no matter where you teach in the country, kids are all doing the same things.

This year I had to message parents and say “Your kid did [insert thing here], how do you want me to handle it?”

The parents always say “I don’t know, that’s not my kid. Just do what you need to do.”

I don’t know what to do. I think I’ve just run out of patience and don’t have any answers.

If kids are misbehaving at school, they’re doing the same thing at home, right?

Just curious.

Edit: I appreciate everyone’s feedback and I’m reading through it all. I’ve been teaching 20 years, so I’ve tried a lot of things in the classroom. I’m open to trying new things, especially things you tried that didn’t work.

I’m more curious about parenting styles and what people are experiencing in their communities.
