A dartboard is just a board for darts. Why is it called a dartboard instead of a board of darts? Why isn't a blackboard just a board for blacks? Why isn't a whiteboard a board for whites? Why isn't a scoreboard a board of scores? Why isn't a noticeboard a board for notices? Why isn't a chopping board a board for choppings?
