What is this "subreddit" for? In a nutshell it is to discuss things you don't agree with and try to change your view on the topic. It encourages civil discussion in the hopes it may change your mind.

What does this have to do with the next US President?

Well, if you spend half an hour on this website you will see huge amounts of posts every single day bashing Trump. It is #1 on the front page every single day for the past 5 or 6 years. This sub is clearly very one-sided politically and bias towards a very liberal democrat view. There is a handful of reasons why that is but we don't need to get into specifics. We can all somewhat agree that the political leaning of this website is very liberal.

Now, as a conservative, I tried to stick my head in the sand and say the liberal media is very biased. But the thing is, this sub isn't run by some big corporation, its run by every day people. Loose (general) estimates have put about 75% of this sub as democrat/liberal leaning and 12% republican/conservative leaning. So for one thing, it isn't just the media that hates Trump, its a large portion of the US population.

So what does it mean to change your view? We don't need to go far to find huge amounts of examples of "changing someone's view" on the sub. Whether its a conservative person being convinced that healthcare should be free or whatever, there is tons of examples posted every day. The point is that tons of people have had their views changed by this sub.

Now let's get to the point. So we have:

- A widely politically liberally leaning website/subreddit
- 75% of the sub leaning left politically (democrat/liberal)
- Tons of examples of changing conservative people's views

Now does this mean conservatives aren't welcome here? No. I myself am conservative and come to this sub for discussion and debate everyday. I feel welcome and as though my views can be respectfully challenged and changed if presented properly. What does it mean for conservatives? Right off the bat is that conservatives are going to be convinced more easily due to the nature of the website/subreddit. They are going to be exposed to the other side of the political spectrum more often than liberals are. You can't go a single day without seeing a Trump bash post on the front page. This sub, as a whole, is a constant attack on Trump and conservatives. In the spirit of this sub conservatives are challenged politically everyday. This meaning that conservatives *should* have a more open mind politically than liberals.

So now lets bring it all together. The US population is roughly half conservative/republican and half liberal/democrat. This sub is 75% liberal and 12% conservative. So this is what it means...

**This sub is more likely to change the views of conservatives than liberals.**

So if this sub is more likely to change a conservative's view than a liberal's view and this sub is a constant bash on conservatives and Trump it only stands to reason that:

**More conservatives will change their political view to liberal than liberals will to conservative.**

This isn't the biggest revelation but it means a lot for this sub. If conservatives are more likely to change their political view than liberals are, conservatives will slowly turn into liberals and fewer conservatives will exist. What does this mean for the next Presidential election? If conservatives are more likely to change their views political than liberals than there will be more liberals than conservatives. That means that conservatives and Trump are far less likely to be elected in the coming election (or ever).

So bring it all together. If conservatives are more likely to change their political view than liberals and there is a constant attack on conservatives on this sub than conservatives turning liberal is far more likely than liberals turning conservative. Which means...

#The next US President will not be Donald Trump.

Discussion and debate welcome!

UPDATE: Holy shit this blew up. I realize that this is mostly just a statistic based off of this subreddit, but I think it still holds true for the rest of the country. People are saying that Trump supporters don't use reddit, but the same could be said about other conservatives. The point is that conservatives are challenged politically more. Thank you all for the discussion and debate, I appreciate all of the feedback!
