Well after reading all the comments, I decided that it made no sense to be stubborn. So I just asked them to remove their shoes. It didn't even cause any issue after all. I think because I was always at conflict with my BIL, I somehow considered this as another fight. So thank you very much for your comments, I've learned a lot and I will make sure to ask everyone to remove their shoes from now on.

The guests left. The party was a blast.

UPDATE: I told my wife I'm sorry for arguing about this because it makes sense to ask everyone to remove their shoes as soon as they enter. I told her to let my BIL and his family know that from now on, they need to remove their shoes. I wasn't home when they arrived, but my wife told me that they removed their shoes without saying anything, and that they said they understood when my wife told them about it. My wife said the house was cleaner after they left than it was before they came over.

My BIL even helped with cleaning after the party, as well as his mom and dad and everyone else. I asked him about how he felt about having to remove his shoes and he told me that he understands and that he'd do the same thing if he were me.

Everything went great and I'm glad we're all on the same page now. Thanks everyone!

EDIT/UPDATE: I'm sorry guys, I didn't expect this would get so big. I'm reading your comments and it's night time here, so I'll be sleeping in about 2 hours, but I'll try to respond to everyone. Thanks so much for the support :)
