I laced my braid with thumbtacks as a self defense tactic

I (28F) was 24 years old at the time, and worked in this independent kitchen with no HR department as a cook for several years. There was a brief period of time where a coworker was pulling my hair repeatedly after being asked and told not to. He was a older man and was physically larger and stronger than me. I tried to avoid him at all costs, moved my workstation, asked for transfers ( neither were granted ) worked in a small area with minimal people, but no matter what I did he would find me and pull my hair. I was at my wits end, crying in the bathroom enough that people noticed, so I went to the maintenance staff and asked if they could help me. They told me they had an idea of what was going on and that they had a problem with this guy as well. They said they would get me some thumbtacks from the hardware store and I should lace my braids with them. I could go to legal for assistance, but I needed a short term solution that would be NOW, as I could no longer work in that environment as it was. So, I did it. It worked. I was able to file a lawsuit and eventually quit. I haven't worn my hair long since.
