My dad is convinced that now is the time for an American to travel to Europe

I live in the US. My wife and I just had a child a few months ago. My dad says that because the dollar is strong against the euro now is a great time to travel to Europe. I’m a bit of an asshole (and I’m sure this post will prove that) so I pointed out that it’s not the best time to travel because SARS-CoV-2 is still a thing.

He said that he can get over Covid, that he’s had it three times, and that the virus is not too serious. I told him that the virus mutates and eventually we will get a variant that is as serious as the original one. He’s not having it.

I’m still living with my dad and I’m starting to think that this is a generational thing. I’m GenZ and he is a very stubborn Boomer. I’m quite frustrated because he won’t take my concerns into consideration.

But this post is mostly about if there is any data or papers regarding the correlation between exchange rates and the amount of American tourists in Europe. I can’t find anything so far.
