App to help you fill dead time

I think it's pretty common for us to have things we want to do, like learning a language or practicing a musical instrument, but end up procrastinating.

I want to build an app that helps me to stay mindful of my time in the long run, especially for those times when I'm being completely distracted e.g. scrolling my phone, and to redirect that time towards things I care about.

The basic idea is:

* You enter different time sinks that you care about and how much time you want to dedicate on a daily basis
* You have a notification to remind you to do that activity
* You put a little "timer" on your phone to prove you were doing that activity. If you leave the app, it's paused
* The app has memory of your past activities and you have a score that you want to keep

I'm considering adding things like:

* An in-app browser for news/article reading
* Integrate with other apps (language learning, games, music learning, etc)
* Share your activities with friends to make it more fun (e.g. have a summary of how it's been going each week)
* Integration with Google Calendar to help you plan time

But I think I want to keep that simple to start with.

Anyone has any thoughts on this idea?
