So, I rushed into the alley, the terrified cashier behind me. I saw a little girl, not yet ten years old, being held hostage by this man. He was a few years older than me, and he had a small knife to the little girl. I knew that I could easily disarm him, but I had to distract him first.

The best way I knew to distract him would be to do the chicken dance. I did the chicken dance, and the man was momentarily stunned. He didn't drop the knife, but he did drop the little girl. She scrambled away, out of his reach, and I disarmed him.

I pushed him to the ground and held him there until the police came. They took him away, and I was taken to the station for questioning.

"He's innocent, and commended for his bravery," the police chief said.
