I was at the store with my friend, looking at various options. I noticed that there were a few different Glocks and the prices were reasonable. I mentioned the prices, and my friend pulled out his phone and showed me that he had ordered the Taurus G2C with an optic for $280, essentially brand new.

I told him that it was a great price, but asking if he has ever heard of Taurus. He said no, and I explained, mentioning a few of the safety lawsuits. He said he doesn't care, and he wants to shoot it as soon as possible. I told him that it is a good idea to get it checked out by a gunsmith beforehand, and he took it to a local gunsmith.

A few days pass, and I get a call from him, asking me to pick him up. I asked him what's wrong, and he tells me the gunsmith told him to never bring the gun into his shop again, and that he doesn't want to ever have to fix it. He told my friend to throw the gun away.

I go to his house and ask him what happened. He says he doesn't know, and he wants to go to the range and shoot it. I explain that it is a good idea to follow the advice of a professional, especially one who has worked with the gun.

He doesn't care, but he does finally agree to take it to another gunsmith. The second gunsmith also refuses to touch the gun, saying he won't work with Taurus products and that my friend is playing with fire.

At this point, my friend is getting annoyed at me for saying I told you so. I reiterate that he should sell it and get himself a better, safer gun. He refuses, and says he's going to go shooting with it anyway.

I am really worried about him taking a gun that two professionals have refused to touch to the range. After all, it's not just his safety that's at risk, but others as well. I want him to prioritize his safety and get a new gun, but he's unwilling to listen.

I am really worried about this situation. What should I do?

Tl;Dr: My friend bought a Taurus G2C for a very low price, despite not knowing anything about the brand or its safety issues. I tried to warn him, but he's refusing to listen and wants to shoot it anyway. I'm concerned for his safety and the safety of others at the range, and don't know what to do.

Edit: I have texted him and re-iterated that I won't be going to the range with him with that firearm. I am scheduled to go to the range with him on Friday as he has a different firearm he wants to shoot.
