Why the hell do people call a good economy "good for the pockets of the 1%"? It's not like everyone doesn't benefit from having access to good paying jobs and better consumer goods.

Unemployment is at record lows. More people are finding good paying jobs.

So why the hell do people say this is good for the pockets of the 1%? A good economy is good for EVERYONE. A good paying job is good for everyone. It doesn't matter that a CEO or billionaire will inevitably make more money in a good economy, they're not going to cut your paycheck.

I've heard the same arguments from people about having consumer goods. "Oh, a new iPhone is good for the pockets of Apple shareholders." No, it's not. How? Apple shareholders might make a profit, but YOU might end up with a product that gives you a lot of pleasure or makes your life easier.

Why do people frame it like this?
