I am a veteran and I think it’s bullshit that we get so many fucking discounts.<br><br>Edit: Holy shit! This was posted on a different Reddit account that I made before I made my main and it just blew up. I’m floored. Thank you all for your kind words. I’m glad someoneenos agreed with me and that I was able to show my opinion without being lynched. Also, thank you for the awards. I didn’t know this was a thing.<br><br>I’m currently working retail and they gave our store a discount code for veterans. We can give 10% off to anybody who claims to be a veteran. The discount is also valid until 2018.<br><br>I used to be in the Navy. I served for three years. I got out honourably. I think I deserve all the recognition I got for that. And I’m grateful for all my fellow brothers and sisters in arms that sacrificed for this country and all they got in return was a pat on the back and a thank you.<br><br>However, I think it’s fucking bullshit that we get treated like we’re fucking gods because of our service to this country. We are not gods. We’re fucking humans who risked our lives for this country. We deserve recognition. We don’t deserve a fucking discount at the store.<br><br>When I go to a store and they have a veteran discount, I refuse to use it. I feel like it’s fucking bullshit that I’m using my past just to get something cheaper. “I served this country and I didn’t get any benefits. It was all covert. But hey, give me 10% off because I served my country. I think I’m better than the rest of the fucking population because I served.”<br><br>All veterans should be given recognition for their service. But we’re not fucking gods. We’re humans. And to take advantage of this is fucking bullshit.
