Can I write a story that includes historical fact, historical events, and mythology?

I am an elementary school teacher for 3rd graders. I would love to write a book for my students to read that combines fact, fantasy, and mythology. I want to use our world as the setting. My thought is that will allow students to be able to visualize locations and motivations for characters. I am not looking to recreate things like Harry Potter or Percy Jackson. Instead, I'm thinking something similar to The Da Vinci Code, but for kids. I am curious if anyone is doing this already, or if there is any space for this to exist. <br><br><br>&#x200B;<br><br>TL/DR: Would anyone be interested in a story that involves real locations, historical events, and mythology?
