AITA for refusing to cover for my coworker who didn't show up to work on our boss's last day?

So, I am a nurse and my friend, let's call her Katie, is also a nurse and we work on the same floor. My boss is leaving our floor after 7 years of managing us and today was his last day, but Katie no showed and didn't give any notice.

Katie was supposed to be there today and was supposed to take care of half the patients on the floor and since she didn't show up, I had to take on her patients and her responsibilities. I was already mad at her for putting me in this situation (nursing is hard and taking on extra patients is not fun and is hard on our bodies and minds) and it's so bad that our boss had to have a bad day on his last day here.

Then I get calls and texts from people asking where Katie is and if I've heard from her. She never called her manager or anyone at work to let them know that she wasn't coming in and of course I hadn't heard from her but since I was stuck doing all of her work, everyone assumed that I knew what was going on with her.

Some of the nurses said that I should just make up something to get her in trouble for not showing up and to cover for her since she is my friend. I told them that she is not my problem and I am not going to make up some lie to cover for her lack of accountability.

They then tried to guilt trip me and told me that I am a bad friend if I don't cover up for her. They said that it's just this one time and it's not a big deal and that I would be an asshole if I didn't help her out.

AITA for not covering for Katie?
