Did any of you ever get caught and decide to stop from that day forward?

I’ve been shoplifting through out my life for a period of time but I stopped stealing in my 40’s. Just curious if anyone else did the same thing.

I got caught shoplifting when I was 18 by my manager and he asked if I had anything on me from the store. I was like of course I’m not going down for this. I said no, he asked if I would be willing to allow him to check me. I was like of course I’m going to allow that. He found nothing and he had no choice but to let me go and I kept my job.

Fast forward 25 years. I end up in a Walmart store and I see how easy it would be to steal and the temptation overcomes me. I steal from that Walmart 10 times but on the 11th time I get caught by a Loss Prevention officer. I’m arrested and charged with a crime. Finally I get prosecuted a year later and I get sentenced to a fine.

So after that I’m done with stealing from retail stores. It’s not worth it and I’m getting older at this stage and my life is on the right track so I’m not going to jeopardize it for some material things that I don’t even need.

So did any of you ever get caught and that was your last straw?
