What is the reason why the Kingdom of Italy abandoned its ally the Austrian Empire in WWI?

I mean, Italy had nothing to gain from joining the war and was already an industrialized nation, in fact it was one of the richest nations in the world. I honestly don't get why Italy decided to betray Austria and joined the enemies.
