Zookeepers don't strike that often, but when they do, the animals are provided care. How would you feel about this being the case for teachers?

Teachers are the first line defense for abused children, the ones primarily responsible for instilling in children empathy, self-discipline, good habits, and critical thinking. They are the protectors of our future. They are often the only adult child-abusers see every day. They are the only means of socialization for some kids. They are the ones who inspire kids to pursue higher education and personal development. They are the ones who hold the hands of abused children on the school bus, tell them everything's going to be okay, and beg them not to kill themselves.

They are also underpaid, overworked, and terribly mistreated by parents of their students, the government, and yes, even the students themselves. The people we expect to be good role models are treated horribly by society. We should be doing better to make sure they are able to function, as they are the future of our nation.

How would you feel about teachers being able to go on strike without penalty, and the children being provided care, as they are in such a crucial position for children?
