When I was 7 I felt the presence of my abductor and I hid so good he thought I wasn’t home.

I’m almost 30 now but I have a vivid memory of this incident.<br>When I was 7 I used to sleep in the living room with my siblings and our parents slept in their room. <br>My mom always told me that I was a light sleeper. <br><br>One night I woke up to a man standing in my room. I can’t remember exactly what he looked like, but he was wearing a black skivvy and jeans. He had a large smile on his face. <br><br>The moment I saw him, I knew to shush myself and not scream. Something inside told me to hide under my covers and he would leave me unharmed. I remember laying in a ball and pulling my covers up to cover myself. <br><br>I then saw his face looking at me and then he backed up and turned to my siblings who were sleeping on the opposite side of the room from me. He looked at each of them and then backed up and went into my parents room. <br><br>I knew he wasn’t my dad because my dad wore the same pajamas every night, but he was wearing black. <br><br>I could hear my parents screaming in the other room and then the front door slammed shut. <br><br>The police told my parents it was a mental health patient who escaped the local mental hospital and he was known to be a pedophile. <br><br>We all slept in the same bed that night. Me and my siblings in our parents bed and my parents on the floor. <br><br>What I didn’t tell them was my feeling of knowing exactly what to do as soon as I saw the man. <br><br>I understand now after reading similar articles that pedophiles get a thrill out of knowing a child is awake and watching them. A lot of abusers aren’t motivated by lust but the thrill of the hunt and the rush of adrenaline. <br><br>The incident really felt like a mental connection that I and this man had. So much so that I kind of felt a telepathic message when he left the room. It was almost like he was saying in my mind “I’ll be back soon.” <br><br>For years I hoped the man died that night and never found another victim.
