I often hear people say that "nobody saw the AI revolution coming", but that's ridiculously incorrect. <br><br>People have been predicting the AI revolution for years if not decades, and AI just took off this year by achieving these capabilities faster than predicted. <br><br>The timeline of AI has been predicted and anticipated by many people for years. People have been speculating about the capabilities and risks of AGI for decades. <br><br>For example, I'll pull a quote from Elon Musk from 2017: "AI is a fundamental risk for the existence of human civilization". <br><br>Before 2020, most of the population and politics didn't care about the threat of AGI, but it was very much predicted and anticipated by many.
