I have been dating my boyfriend for 14 months. Through our relationship, we have been together 24/7. We are one of those couples that do everything together, or separately in the same room where we are both doing separate things. But next to each other. What I'm saying is, we are very close.

He has been nothing but amazing to me and has been very kind to me.

At first I thought it was a joke. He never told me about it. I found out on my own by seeing the toilet water. So I thought "Eh, maybe he was thirsty and couldn't wait until he gets to the fridge/sink? Idk, maybe he was playing a joke on himself?" I honestly thought nothing of it and didn't run to him and complain about it. I did think it was weird but I thought it was a one time thing. I let it go.

Then I couldn't let it go after a few more times. So I asked him, "Hey do you drink toilet water?" He went on to say "Yeah, I've been doing it for a long time. I like the taste of it" I said "Oh okay, thanks for telling me ?" I didn't want to make him uncomfortable. He knew I knew so I didn't want to make him feel bad. I did say to myself "Well, I guess I won't have to deal with him shitting a lot" and moved on from the situation. It didn't really bother me and I thought it was just a weird thing that he does that won't effect my life. I thought I would never have to deal with it.

I did think it was weird but I thought he was mostly just drinking the water that sits on top of the toilet water, so I thought it was fine. So I let it go

But the next day, I was doing my business and flushing the toilet. I saw he was behind me and was waiting for me to finish. He immediately ran to the toilet and scooped his hand into the water and held it up above his head and guzzled it down. So my assumption of drinking the top of the water was incorrect. It made me feel sick. I let it go.

This was the first time I saw him do it. Weeks have passed and I have realized that he does this every time after a flush; whether it's me or him or our dog that flushed the toilet. I don't even flush the toilet anymore. I'm not kidding when I say he does this every time. He even does this when we are sick. It doesn't matter to him if it's a diarrhea or a regular flush. He will drink it like it's water. It's been 14 months and he has never been sick... but that's not my point. I've had to tell guests not to flush the toilet, or to give me heads up when they flush so he can drink the water.

He will drink the leftover water every time it's there. He will scoop up buckets of water and guzzle it down. I've never seen him get sick. Idk if it's that his stomach is immune to it or what, but he never gets sick. He is also a very clean person and showers often.

I don't know what to do. I have never brought it up and I don't want to make him feel uncomfortable. I don't know if he would even stop. He tells me that he's been doing this habit since he was a kid and cannot explain why he does it. He just likes it. But I don't know if he realizes how upsetting it is for me. I understand he doesn't harm me and it doesn't effect my life, but it's the thought that counts and every time he does it, it stresses me out. I don't know what to do and I don't want to ruin our relationship. Advice would be appreciated.

Edit: He doesn't drink the water that sits in the toilet for a long time. He only drinks the water after a flush.
