Why did everyone do this when they were kids?

As a kid I was fascinated with putting the remote control through various tests. Like putting the t.v remote under the couch cushion and seeing how long it took for the signal to get weak, or throwing it in the freezer to see how the cold affected the range. I once switched all the remotes in my dad's man cave and watched as he went on a tirade when everyone stopped working. <br><br><br><br>What the hell everyone else, why did we all do this?
