Why does the US service industry thrive when others don't?

US is a global leader in finance, tech, tourism, retail, healthcare, education, logistics, consulting, and R\&D. What is the cause of the US service industry thrivng? Is the US all about finance and tech? I hear the US service industry employs 70% of the population. How is the US so strong in service industry when it's not service oriented?
