We can make a sentient AGI in under 10 years if we had the resources of NASA Apollo Program.

Sorry. But I don't believe in a magical Moore's Law. Things don't just happen because of an arbitrary graph.

There is a lot of evidence that suggests the vast knowledge of today is not enough to map out the future in a Moore's Law. We did land on the moon decades ago. But it will take another 5 years to do it again with the Artemis program today. It took 25 billion dollars to land on the moon. We spend twice that today on a lunar trip.

It took Billions of dollars and the work of tens of thousands of engineers and scientists to build the first nuclear bomb. But the cost per unit of a bomb today is basically nothing. In fact we today we can make a nuclear bomb cheaper with more destructive power than the ones used in the Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

If we had 20 billion dollars at our disposal today to build an AGI, I truly think we'd have a sentient AGI before 2030. We can hire tens of thousands of engineers, scientists, and even students to build a sentient AGI.

By my estimate, we have the money. We have the talent. But we don't have the resources. The resources are being used for things like AI art, and chatbots, and even entirely useless things such as VR and self-driving cars.

Give the money and the resources to the right people and we can build an AGI in under 10 years.

This is my opinion.
