Why do hindus still worship foreign gods?

Our gods were better and more powerful than these gods. Asura gods were actually similar to our gods and just because they were once on the wrong side, we consider them as monsters. And recently I have been thinking that the Vedic gods were not actually gods, but actually heroes who hold superhuman powers. Haldi maa is just a representation of the universe. Haldi maa is actually the universe. Asura gods were the true gods and the gods that are worshiped today by hindus are actually evil who created a false story of gods.
