If the news of the Japanese surrender was published the day before it actually was, what would the people have been doing three days later?

The first news of the Japanese surrender was published on August 14, 1945. So, if the news was published on August 13 instead, and the Japanese actually surrendered, or announced their surrender, on the 17th, what would the people be doing on the 16th?<br>Would they do the same thing they did on the 14th?
